Eco Car Benefits
The benefits of owning and driving greener cars than the vehicles of yesterday, have been considered for the past few years, as the realisation of diminishing oil supplies and the negative effects of pollution on people and the environment grow.
Wouldn't it be great to run your car on air? We're still many years away from the commercial possibility of that, but in the mean time, there is a lot that is being done. Here's a list, (not necessarily comprehensive), of the benefits of the eco car:
- Lower greenhouse gas emissions impacting climate change
- Lower levels of pollutants being pumped into the air
- Less pollution is ultimately better for human health
- Lower cost of ownership and running costs, particularly over the long term
- As green vehicles become more in demand their value will not depreciate as quickly as their conventional cousins
- No Congestion Charges for green vehicles in the UK will save thousands a year, particularly for city dwellers and those living around them. Not just London, other cities are following suit, with a Congestion Charge.
- Road Tax reductions for green vehicles
There are many different variables to take into account when calculating how much money you can save by owning and driving an eco car. Location, budget, vehicle requirements (such as whether you need a family car, individual ownership, perhaps a fleet of cars for certain types of work), how far you need to travel and other factors come into the equation.
As car manufacturers, insurance companies and others glean more performance data and the like, so the predictability of costs involved becomes more accurate and ideally cheaper.
